Since Tail Lights Dogs’ beginnings, Stephanie Brooks has been instrumental in making the vision come alive. She has worked alongside Tail Lights’ founder Mira Jones in all aspects of managing and decision making, excelling each step of the way!
Through her knowledge of dog care and behavior, along with exceptional customer service, Stephanie personifies the mission of Tail Lights Dogs. She continues the mission: to provide a safe, welcoming facility, in which our clients may rest assured their dogs are carefully supervised, positively trained and warmly loved during all stages of their lives.
Mira Jones is an IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). In 2011, she was one of the first trainers in the East to complete the NACSW Certified Nose Work Instructor course, and for the past 9 years she has completed all requirements set forth by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Mira is a Nosework Certifying Official and Judge for the United Kennel Club (UKC).
Mira has more than 20 years’ experience working with dogs and dog owners. She has trained hundreds of dogs of all breeds and temperaments, has taught group classes, written training curriculum, lectured on animal behavior, has completed graduate-level courses in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Mira’s interest in scent detection was the natural outgrowth of her fascination with behavioral ecology, the study of how animals behave in their evolutionary niche. For Mira, helping companion dogs through scent work is the perfect bridge between training and behavior, between dog and owner, and between urban realities and canine enrichment.
Dr. Bowden’s special passion lies in the area of dog and cat behavior. Many hours of advanced study have made her uniquely qualified to assist Upstate families with pet behavior counseling to address and prevent serious behavior issues. Because our pets hold a place of great importance within the family, Dr. Bowden believes it is crucial to build a strong and healthy relationship with your dog from day one. The strongest relationships are based on mutual respect and a keen understanding of your dog’s needs. Tail Lights Dogs is extremely pleased to collaborate with Dr. Bowden to help our clients achieve fulfilling relationships with their life long companions.
Lis is the newest member of the Tail Lights training team. With her enthusiasm for helping pups and their people and her natural talent for reading a dog’s body language we are thrilled to have her on our training team. Currently Lis is teaching our Right Start babies how to grow up to be well-rounded adult dogs. Her passion is helping to prevent pups from developing behavioral concerns through fun, safe socialization and learning through play. Her long-term goals include helping shy and anxious pups become comfortable in the world around them.
Boscoe and I look forward to our Nose Work every week. The instructors adapt their instruction to the needs of each dog. It is so interesting to watch each dog develop their own technique, since they all have different working styles. Boscoe is always ready for his next task!— Jessica Bates & Boscoe
